About the Chef
Matty Matheson - Head Chef
Born in New Brunswick and raised in Ontario, Matthew James Matheson rose quickly through the culinary ranks. He completed chef training and culinary management at Humber College in 2003 and from there took a job at Le Select Bistro. In three short years Matheson made it to junior sous chef, leaving in 2007 to helm La Palette in Kensington Market.
Both Le Select and La Palette’s proper French training and Matheson’s own rogue Canadiana cooking skills are found in the unique culinary experience that is Oddfellows, with the seasonal changing menus he helmed as Head Chef. In spring 2010 he continued the dynamic relationship with Oddfellows founders Brian Richer and Kei Ng at their new venture, Parts and Labour, in Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood. Matthew Matheson, at the age of 28, serves as executive chef at both Oddfellows and Parts and Labour where he daily satiates the appetites of hungry diners.

The Space
Parts & Labour is the ultimate Castor-designed space and is the bigger more sophisticated brother of Oddfellows. Decked out in an array of recycled lights, shattered windshields and long communal tables on an expanse of well worn hardwood the spacious restaurant/bar invites large crowds to mingle and smaller parties to dine more exclusively at the chef’s tables. After dinner, descend into The Shop to rock out to touring garage, punk and independent bands and some of Toronto's hottest young DJs.
Special Events
The Parts & Labour spaces are available for special events. If you're planning a corporate or private event, you can refer to our catering menu while Chef Matty Matheson would be happy to work with you to further customize your menu or suggest catering options.
